All of the above images show the installation piece of  Professor Gordana Bakic -Vlahov, Director of
the Department of Drawing Processes in Jabukovac centre, Zagreb.  This work is a culmination of a project which involved creating a detailed drawing each day as a sort of diary record of her feelings and thoughts. This process was carried out over a period of  two years.

Museum Night 27th January 2017 in Academy of Fine Arts - Part 1

Museum Night in Zagreb is the equivalent to Culture night as seen in Belfast and Dublin in Septmber each year.  Venues were open all over the city of  Zagreb with events taking place between 6pm until midnight.  The Academy of Fine Arts hosted exhibitions of work by students in all departments on the campus.  I was asked to participate and my painting,  Battlefield, was hung with other work by students on the first floor hallway.   Most of the studios in all disciplines were open to the public except those on the second and third floors, which was an unfortunate omission.   I believe that this was due to security concerns that arose from the theft of some equipment during this event last year.   There was some disappoint about attendance this year compared to last year but bad weather conditions and a football match were blamed for the lower numbers.  However,  a substantial number of the public braved the elements to view the work.  I assisted by helping to man various studio spaces.

Below is a selection of  other paintings on display in the gallery corridor, including work by Katrin Radovan who was an Erasmus student in Belfast in 2016.  The stands and studio spaces were hosted by the students who interacted with interested members of the public and explained their work practices.

If Winter comes.....

January in Zagreb.   Some photographs of the snow laden landscape. There were some amazing views from my apartment and throughout the city.  Temperatures sometimes fell as low as -15 degrees.
